n a world facing unprecedented challenges, equipping young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to drive meaningful change is more critical than ever. GOAL, a globally recognized humanitarian organization, is taking a bold step in this direction with its NextGen Youth Programme—an initiative designed to inspire and empower young changemakers across multiple continents.

What is GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme?

GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme is a dynamic initiative that brings together young leaders from around the world to explore pressing global justice issues. The programme provides a platform for participants to deepen their understanding of critical global challenges, particularly in climate and health systems, and to collaborate on solutions that can make a tangible impact.

A Global Learning Experience

The 2025 edition of the programme will consist of 10 interactive sessions, conducted primarily online, with select in-person gatherings for participants based in Ireland. These sessions are structured to foster critical thinking, intercultural collaboration, and the development of leadership skills essential for driving change.

Participants will engage in insightful discussions, develop skills in public awareness campaigning, and create awareness-raising materials that will be integrated into GOAL’s broader engagement efforts.

Who Can Apply?

GOAL is looking for passionate and motivated young individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 18 to 25 years.
  • Residents of Ireland, Ethiopia, Honduras, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Syria, Turkey, Uganda, or Zimbabwe.
  • Fluent in English and willing to engage in online teamwork.
  • Have a basic understanding of global issues and a strong desire to drive positive change.
  • Interest in using artistic methods (such as drama, art, creative writing, journalism, or music) as a tool for activism.
  • Access to a device and internet (though support is available for those in need).

Programme Timeline

The sessions will take place between May and July 2025, primarily on Thursdays at 3 PM Irish Time, accommodating various time zones.

  • May 24: In-person session (Irish-based participants)
  • May 27: Online session (International participants)
  • June 5 – July 17: Online sessions (All participants)
  • June 20/21: In-person retreat (Irish-based participants, details TBC)

How to Apply

Interested candidates should send an email to nextgenyouth@goal.ie with the subject line ‘Country, Full Name’ by April 1st. Applications should include:

  1. A CV outlining educational background, voluntary/professional experience.
  2. A 1-page cover letter addressing:
    • Why they want to join the programme and how they are a good fit.
    • What skills they bring and what they hope to gain.

Alternatively, applicants can submit a 1-2 minute video covering the same details.

Successful candidates will be notified by May 2nd. Those who do not make it into this year’s cohort are encouraged to stay connected for future opportunities.

Inclusivity and Support

GOAL is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within the programme. Applications are especially encouraged from underrepresented and marginalized communities. To ensure accessibility, stipends of €400 will be provided to all selected participants to help cover internet, data, and travel costs.
