In partnership with Huawei, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is dedicated to equipping young visionaries with the skills, mentorship, and financial support necessary to drive impactful digital development projects in their communities. Each year, 30 fellows from diverse regions worldwide are selected to participate in this prestigious programme. The GCYLP serves as a platform for ambitious youth, providing them with the knowledge and resources needed to implement innovative, technology-driven solutions that address challenges related to digital inclusion and accessibility. Why You Should Apply The GCYLP is more than just a fellowship—it’s an opportunity to turn ideas into action. As a participant, you will: Access Expert Mentorship: Receive guidance from Huawei and ITU experts who are dedicated to nurturing young talent in the digital space. Engage in Leadership Training: Take part in virtual mentorship sessions, networking opportunities, and hands-on learning experiences. Attend an In-Person Development Week in Geneva: All fellows will have the chance to connect with global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts in July 2025. Secure Financial Support: Each fellow will receive an initial grant of $5,000 USD to launch their digital development initiative. The most impactful projects will be awarded an additional $5,000 USD grant, bringing the total funding potential to $10,000 USD. The first cohort of GCYLP fellows was selected from a competitive pool of 5,249 applicants from over 200 countries. Changemakers from 28 different nations are leading innovative projects aimed at creating a more inclusive digital future. Who Can Apply? The GCYLP is looking for young leaders passionate about technology, innovation, and social impact. You are eligible if you: Are between 18 and 28 years old. Have a strong interest in digital development and want to make a tangible impact in your community. Are currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from a STEM-related academic program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Can effectively communicate in English, as it is the primary language of the programme.
