Program Commitment and Structure

Fellows selected for the Dalai Lama Fellowship commit to a transformative 12-month experience that includes:

  • Monthly Online Learning Modules focused on mindful leadership, ethics, and social innovation.
  • One-on-One Coaching Sessions designed to support personal and project development.
  • Global Peer Learning Circles where fellows exchange insights and build cross-cultural connections.

In total, fellows dedicate approximately 12 hours per month to program activities, excluding time spent implementing their social innovation projects.

A key highlight of the fellowship is the Contemplative Leadership Assembly, held in May 2026, where fellows from around the world gather in person for a week of learning, reflection, and collaboration. The Dalai Lama Fellows cover all travel, lodging, and meal expenses for this assembly.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Dalai Lama Fellowship 2025–2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 20 and 36 years old as of April 1, 2026.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Be actively engaged in a social change project, or present a well-developed plan for one that can be implemented throughout the fellowship year.
  • Show a sincere commitment to personal growth, mindfulness practices, and ethical leadership.

Preference is given to applicants with ongoing social initiatives or those who have established strong community connections and the resources to bring their ideas to life.
