The Connect and Create programme has officially launched the Creative Tandems Call for Proposals, offering a unique opportunity for organizations in sub-Saharan Africa and Europe to collaborate in the fields of performing arts and music. Led by the Goethe-Institut and Expertise France, in partnership with the Institut français and supported by the European Union, the programme is a core component of the Africa–Europe Cultural Partnership. Purpose of the Creative Tandems Call

The Creative Tandems call is designed to fund innovative collaboration and co-production projects between organizations from sub-Saharan Africa and the European Union. Each project must be jointly designed and executed by a tandem partnership:

• One organization based in sub-Saharan Africa
• One organization based in a European Union country

Applications must be submitted by the African partner, accompanied by a commitment letter from the European partner. Successful projects will receive funding through the African organization, which will manage the implementation of the joint programme.

Eligible Activities

Proposals may cover a range of creative and collaborative activities, including:

• Artistic collaborations such as co-creations and co-productions
• Artistic or research residencies for performers, musicians, or creatives
• Workshops, training sessions, and peer-learning initiatives aimed at capacity building and knowledge exchange

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for funding, projects must meet the following criteria:

• Be implemented either in sub-Saharan Africa, a European Union country, or both regions
• Have a duration of 18 to 24 months
• Take place between March 2026 and March 2028

Projects that demonstrate a strong commitment to long-term cultural partnerships and innovation will be prioritized.

Priority Considerations

Special attention will be given to projects that:

• Strengthen existing tandems wishing to deepen ongoing collaborations
• Showcase youth-led initiatives, emerging artistic scenes, and contemporary creative practices
• Incorporate eco-responsible approaches in production and implementation
• Promote inclusion and diversity, addressing issues such as gender equality and accessibility for persons with disabilities
