What the Scholarship Covers

  • Monthly stipend: SEK 12,000 to support living expenses throughout the study period.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold citizenship from one of the 33 eligible countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, Indonesia, Brazil, Egypt, and Vietnam.
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities.
  • Have applied for and be admitted to an eligible master’s program at a Swedish university.
  • Demonstrate work experience relevant to your field.
  • Show leadership experience, either from employment or civic engagement.

Applicants who already hold Swedish or EU/EEA citizenship, have previously studied in Sweden, or have resided in Sweden for two years or more are not eligible.

Work and Leadership Experience Requirements

Applicants from most eligible countries must have accumulated at least 3,000 hours of professional experience before February 2026. This experience can include full-time or part-time work, freelance projects, or entrepreneurship.

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate leadership capacity, such as managing teams, influencing strategic decisions, or leading initiatives within an organization or community.

Applicants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine are exempt from the 3,000-hour minimum but must still show proof of relevant professional experience.

Application Timeline

Here’s a clear timeline for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals 2026 application process:

  • 16 October 2025 – 15 January 2026: Apply for a master’s program through University Admissions Sweden.
  • Mid-November 2025: SI publishes the list of eligible programs and required scholarship documents.
  • 9 – 25 February 2026: Scholarship application portal opens for two weeks.
  • 26 March 2026: University admission results are announced.
  • 23 April 2026: Final list of SI Scholarship recipients is announced.

Applicants are encouraged to begin preparations early and gather all necessary documents, including proof of work experience and leadership certifications, before the portal opens.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for a Master’s Program
    Submit your application to up to four programs through University Admissions between 15 October 2025 and 15 January 2026.
  2. Apply for the SI Scholarship
    Once you have applied for a master’s program, complete your SI Scholarship application between 9–25 February 2026. Prepare supporting documents such as your CV, leadership certificate, and work experience proof.
  3. Screening and Evaluation
    SI will review applications and shortlist candidates based on merit, leadership, and commitment to sustainable development.
  4. Results Announcement
    Successful applicants will be notified by 23 April 2026.
