Applications Open for the Model UNCAC Youth COSP 2026: Empowering Young Leaders to Fight Corruption Admin, January 28, 2026January 28, 2026 Application Deadline: February 6, 2026 Are you a young changemaker passionate about transparency, ethics, and using technology to create fairer societies? The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has opened applications for the Model UNCAC Youth Conference of the States Parties (COSP) 2026, an exciting global initiative taking place in Doha, Qatar, in September 2026. This prestigious program gives young people a rare opportunity to experience the inner workings of the UN system through a Model United Nations–style simulation focused on anti-corruption, governance, and integrity. It’s more than just a learning opportunity—it’s a movement to build the next generation of ethical leaders and innovators. Across the world, corruption undermines trust, justice, and sustainable development. For youth—especially in Africa, where governance challenges and rapid technological growth intersect—programs like the Model UNCAC Youth COSP offer a critical platform to engage, learn, and lead change at the global level. About the Model UNCAC Youth COSP Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Model UNCAC Youth COSP simulates the Conference of the States Parties (COSP) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC)—the only legally binding global anti-corruption instrument. Through this simulation, participants will: Gain firsthand insight into how the UN and governments collaborate to prevent and combat corruption. Experience real-world negotiation, diplomacy, and international policymaking. Build critical skills in leadership, advocacy, and ethical decision-making. Network with a diverse group of young leaders and experts from across the world. The Model UNCAC Youth COSP 2026 is designed for young people aged 18 to 30 who want to make a tangible difference in building transparent and just societies. By simulating high-level discussions and decision-making, participants will explore innovative strategies—including the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI)—to promote integrity and accountability. Capacity-Building Workshops: Preparing Youth for Global Impact Before the main conference in Qatar, UNODC will host two Capacity-Building Workshops to prepare participants for the simulation and equip them with the knowledge and tools to engage meaningfully. These intensive sessions will take place on: 24–26 March 2026, and 6–8 May 2026 (participants will attend one of the two workshops). During these workshops, participants will: Deepen their understanding of corruption, its root causes, and its global consequences. Explore how emerging technologies and AI can enhance anti-corruption efforts. Learn to identify corruption risks and ethical challenges in different sectors. Build communication and negotiation skills for multilateral discussions. Only participants who complete one of these workshops will be eligible for selection to attend the Model UNCAC Youth COSP 2026. However, participation in a workshop does not automatically guarantee selection for the conference itself. Why Technology and AI Matter The 2026 program builds on insights from the 5th Anti-Corruption Academic Symposium (Doha, December 2025), which explored how AI and digital innovation can revolutionize anti-corruption strategies. Today, technology plays a dual role—it can both enable corruption and expose it. Understanding this balance is essential for future leaders. The Model UNCAC Youth COSP brings this conversation to young minds, challenging them to propose AI-powered, data-driven, and community-based solutions for a corruption-free world. Some youth researchers who contributed to the 2025 Symposium may even be invited to present their work during the event, bridging academic research and real-world policy. Benefits of Participating Selected participants will enjoy a transformative international experience that combines professional growth, global networking, and practical learning. Participants will: Gain hands-on experience in UN-style diplomacy and negotiations. Build leadership and advocacy skills relevant to international careers. Learn from UN experts and global anti-corruption practitioners. Join a diverse global network of young changemakers. Explore Doha, Qatar, and engage in an enriching intercultural exchange. This experience also enhances participants’ profiles for future opportunities in international relations, governance, technology policy, and development.
