Applications Open for the Ashinaga Internship Program 2026 (In-person &Remote)

Admin, January 27, 2026January 27, 2026

Application Deadline: 27 February 2026

Have you ever dreamed of building an international career in the nonprofit sector while making a real difference in the lives of others? The Ashinaga Internship Program 2026 offers an incredible opportunity for young changemakers to gain hands-on experience, expand their global perspective, and contribute to meaningful social impact initiatives.

Ashinaga Foundation, a Japan-based nonprofit organization, has been empowering orphaned and vulnerable students for over 50 years. Through education, mentorship, and leadership development, Ashinaga supports talented young people from around the world — especially from Africa — to become the next generation of compassionate leaders.

Now, the Foundation is calling for interns from across the globe to join its upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 intake (May 11 – July 31, 2026). Whether you’re based in Tokyo or prefer to work remotely, this program is your chance to gain practical nonprofit experience, collaborate with diverse teams, and contribute to global education initiatives that change lives.

About the Ashinaga Internship Program

The Ashinaga Internship Program provides a structured, hands-on learning experience for university students, graduate students, and recent graduates interested in international development, education, and nonprofit management.

Founded in 1969, Ashinaga Foundation has supported over 110,000 orphaned students through scholarships and emotional care programs. Its flagship initiative, the Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI), nurtures the next generation of African leaders who will contribute to sustainable development and social transformation in their home countries.

Interns at Ashinaga play a key role in supporting the organization’s global operations — from communications, research, and program coordination to event planning and partnership development. Depending on your interests and skills, you can contribute to one of two main tracks:

  • Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI): Support Africa-focused leadership development programs, assist in scholar recruitment, or help coordinate educational projects for young leaders.
  • Tokyo-Based Student Activities: Participate in Japan-based projects focused on education, community engagement, and student welfare.

Whether in-person or remote, the internship emphasizes professional growth, teamwork, and cultural exchange.

Why the Ashinaga Internship Matters

In a world increasingly shaped by cross-cultural collaboration, the Ashinaga Internship offers more than just professional experience — it’s a gateway to global citizenship and empathy-based leadership.

Participants work alongside experienced professionals and fellow interns from diverse countries, gaining a deeper understanding of how education, social innovation, and youth empowerment can drive sustainable change.

For African students and young professionals in particular, this internship is a rare opportunity to connect with a global nonprofit rooted in values of compassion, equality, and education for all.

Benefits of the Ashinaga Internship Program 2026

Selected interns will gain:

  • Global Exposure: Collaborate with an international team and gain insights into nonprofit operations across cultures.

  • Skill Development: Strengthen your communication, teamwork, and project management skills.
  • Flexible Schedule: Enjoy part-time, remote, or hybrid work options that suit your location and availability.
  • Tokyo Experience (Optional): Interns based in Tokyo can work in-person at Ashinaga’s headquarters in Chiyoda or follow a hybrid model.

Please note: Ashinaga does not provide flights, accommodation, or visa support. Remote participation is ideal for those outside Japan.
