Applications are Now Open for the GX Africa Ambassadors Programme 2026: Empowering Africa’s Next Generation of Green Innovators

GX Africa is inviting passionate and forward-thinking young Africans to join the next cohort of GX Africa Ambassadors, a transformative pan-African initiative that equips youth with the knowledge, skills, and tools to lead climate action and sustainable innovation across the continent.

This three-month programme is designed for students and early graduates who are eager to explore the intersection of climate change, green innovation, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). Through immersive learning and community-driven projects, participants gain hands-on experience in sustainability while contributing to Africa’s green transition.

About the Programme

The GX Africa Ambassadors Programme combines climate education, digital skills training, and grassroots outreach to empower young Africans as changemakers in their local communities. Participants engage in real-world challenges that enhance their understanding of environmental issues while developing innovative solutions using digital tools and AI.

The first cohort featured ambassadors from eight African countries who created youth-friendly climate content, contributed to national policy discussions, and led impactful outreach projects. Building on this success, GX Africa is now expanding the programme to reach even more young leaders across the continent.

Core Activities and Challenges

Ambassadors will actively participate in three main challenges during the programme:

1. AI for Climate Learning

Participants will use artificial intelligence and digital tools to simplify complex national climate or environmental policy documents into clear, accessible, youth-friendly content that can inform and inspire action among their peers.

2. 10×10 Climate Outreach Challenge

Each ambassador will help expand the GX Africa Network by connecting with at least 10 new members in their home country, prioritizing underrepresented and underserved communities to ensure inclusive climate education and participation.

3. Green Learning and Knowledge Sharing

Ambassadors will complete free online courses focused on sustainability, climate action, green jobs, or AI for good. They will then share insights from their learning journeys through digital storytelling and social media engagement to inspire more young Africans.

Programme Duration and Commitment

The GX Africa Ambassadors Programme runs for three months and requires a flexible time commitment of about three hours per week, making it suitable for students and working professionals alike.

Eligibility Criteria

The GX Africa Ambassadors Programme is open to applicants across Africa who meet the following requirements:

• Current university, college, or TVET students, or recent graduates.
• Demonstrated interest in climate action, green innovation, sustainability, or technology.
• Curiosity about AI, digital tools, and online learning platforms.
• Ability to communicate effectively online and share content through digital channels.
• Self-motivated and reliable, with a passion for learning and collaboration.

Previous experience with AI tools or content creation is an advantage, but not mandatory.
