Applications are Now Open for Mama Cash Resilience Fund 2025

Admin, March 4, 2025March 4, 2025

Application Deadline: March 31, 2025

Across the globe, grassroots feminist groups are tirelessly working to drive social justice, demand equality, and create sustainable change. However, many of these groups—especially those that are self-led by women, girls, and trans and intersex people—face significant barriers to funding. Recognizing this, Mama Cash established the Resilience Fund, its largest grantmaking program, to provide long-term, flexible financial support to these vital movements.

Funding to Strengthen Feminist Movements

The Resilience Fund offers grants ranging from €5,000 to €50,000 annually, with an average grant size of €35,000. Applications for the 2025 funding cycle open on March 3, 2025, and close on March 31, 2025. This fund is designed to amplify the voices and activism of women, girls, and trans and intersex individuals, enabling them to pursue their own visions and strategies for justice and equality.

Supporting Grassroots Feminist Leadership

The fund prioritizes initiatives that are founded, led, and operated by the communities they aim to serve. These groups work across a spectrum of issues—challenging structural inequalities, advocating for human rights, and mobilizing collective power. Given that meaningful social transformation requires time and sustained effort, Mama Cash provides multi-year funding to ensure that grantee-partners can remain resilient and responsive to emerging opportunities and challenges.

Flexible, Long-Term Support for Emerging Movements

One of the defining features of the Resilience Fund is its commitment to supporting small, emerging, and underfunded feminist groups. Many powerful movements begin with limited resources, yet their work is essential in tackling under-addressed and contested issues. The fund is open to both registered organizations and informal activist collectives, ensuring that bureaucratic hurdles do not prevent access to crucial resources.

Beyond Funding: Strengthening Capacity and Networks

Mama Cash goes beyond financial support by offering accompaniment services—tailored assistance that helps grantee-partners build skills, expand networks, and strengthen organizational structures. This support includes both financial and non-financial resources, ensuring that groups have the tools they need to sustain and scale their impact.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Resilience Fund, organizations must:

  • Operate from a feminist, women’s, girls’, trans, or intersex rights perspective.
  • Be self-led by the women, girls, trans, or intersex people they serve.
  • Have the promotion of these groups’ human rights as their core mission.
  • Advocate for systemic and structural change rather than just individual support.
  • Focus on issues that are overlooked or contested within their contexts.

Who Is Not Eligible?

Mama Cash does not fund organizations that:

  • Primarily focus on service delivery, such as healthcare, education, or income-generating programs.
  • Are led by cisgender men or controlled by political parties, governments, or religious institutions.
  • Are for-profit businesses or individuals.
  • Have annual budgets exceeding €200,000.

2025 Regional Focus

While Mama Cash funds feminist movements worldwide, the 2025 Resilience Fund application cycle is specifically open to groups based in:

  • The Americas and the Caribbean
  • Europe
  • Central Asia and North Asia

Groups outside these regions will not be considered for new grants this year.

Why the Resilience Fund Matters

Feminist movements are at the forefront of advocating for justice and equality, yet they often struggle to secure unrestricted, long-term financial support. By prioritizing self-led, grassroots activism, the Resilience Fund ensures that feminist groups can thrive, organize, and drive lasting social change.
