2025 Women in Engineering (WomEng) Southern Africa Fellowship Programme – Apply Now Admin, February 7, 2025February 7, 2025 Application Deadline: February 27, 2025 The WomEng Southern Africa Fellowship 2025, powered by De Beers Group, is an exclusive learning and development programme designed to equip young women in engineering, technology, and the built environment with the leadership, innovation, well-being, and employability skills needed to thrive in the industry. This one-of-a-kind hybrid programme combines self-paced learning, online engagement, and live masterclasses, providing Fellows with valuable insights and skills to navigate the rapidly evolving world of work. Through structured learning modules, mentorship, and networking opportunities, participants will gain the confidence to become industry leaders. The fellowship is open to female students based in Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa who are in their second-last or final year of undergraduate studies or pursuing full-time postgraduate studies. Programme Overview The 2025 Fellowship will run from March 2025 and consists of four key modules, each designed to foster both personal and professional growth: 1. Leadership – Unlocking and Telling Your Own Story Understanding personal leadership strengths, building confidence, and learning how to articulate personal and professional journeys effectively. 2. Innovation – Developing Skills for the Future World of Work Gaining future-focused skills that enable adaptability in the changing job market, fostering creativity and problem-solving abilities. 3. Employability – Thriving in the Workplace Developing key professional skills, workplace readiness, and strategies to excel in engineering and technology careers. 4. Renewable Energy – Introduction to Renewable Energy Exploring the fundamentals of renewable energy, an essential and growing sector, and understanding its impact on the future of engineering. The programme also incorporates well-being strategies, helping Fellows establish healthy coping mechanisms, manage stress effectively, and recharge for optimal performance. Eligibility Criteria To apply, candidates must: Identify as women and be enrolled full-time in an engineering, technology, or built environment discipline at a university or university of technology in South Africa, Botswana, or Namibia. Be in their second-last or final year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in a full-time postgraduate programme (planning to enter the workforce in 2025 or 2026). Be able to commit 7-9 hours per month from March 2025 to actively participate in the programme. Consider academic schedules, as the programme is designed with university workloads and holidays in mind. Be first-time applicants (previous WomEng Fellowship alumni are not eligible to apply). Non-citizens of South Africa, Botswana, or Namibia meeting residency and academic requirements are also eligible.
